Elena Matušová graduated from the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava in the choral conducting in the class of Prof. Peter Hradil (1993). Since her studies she has worked as a conducting assistant, since 1998 as a conductor and since the season 2003/2004 she has taken the position of the artistic leader and choirmaster of the Lúčnica Chorus. With this ensemble she has realized several hundreds of performances at a number of international competitions and festivals both in Slovakia and abroad (Seoul, Pyongyang, Tours, Middlesbrough, Mar del Plata, Jerusalem, Mexico City, Barcelona, Maribor, Bergen, Isla de Margarita, Sardegna, St. Petersburg, Shanghai and others).

As the choirmaster she regularly participates in outstanding Slovak music festivals (Bratislava Music Festival, Zvolen Castle Plays, Melos-Ethos, Musica Sacra Nitra, Music Days of Banská Bystrica). She has cooperated with important Slovak and foreign orchestral ensembles (Bratislava Chamber Opera, Sinfonietta Žilina, State Opera Banská Bystrica, Cappella Istropolitana, Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra, Solamente Naturali, Slovak Chamber Orchestra, Virtuosi di Praga, Southern Bohemian Chamber Philharmonic, Pilsen Philharmonic, Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra Zlín, Junge Philharmonie Wien, Franz Lehár Orchestra) taking part in performances of vocal-instrumental works and operas under the baton of the conductors Ondrej Lenárd, Róbert Stankovský, Marián Vach, Igor Bulla, Adrián Kokoš, Mario Košik, Zdeňko Macháček, Martin Leginus, Ewald Danel, Oldřich Vlček, Jaroslav Kyzlink, Jaromír Krygel, Kirk Trevor, Allan Wilson, Dalie Atlas, Flavio Colusso, Didier Talpain, Walter Attanasi, Leoš Svárovský, collaborating with the soloists Katia Ricciarelli, Ľubica Vargicová, Terézia Kružliaková, Miroslav and Peter Dvorský, Adriana Kučerová, Adriana Kohútková, Ján Galla, Marta Beňačková, Ľudovít Ludha, Tomáš Juhás, Gustáv Beláček, Peter Mikuláš, Martin Malachovský, Pavol Bršlík, Otokar Klein etc.

She studied and recorded choirs for musicals, regularly works on recordings of choral works for movies for Slovak and foreign companies. Recently she started to conduct also chamber instrumental ensembles, with which she has performed and recorded works by Georgius Zrunek, César Franck, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Joseph Haydn.
