Lúčnica Slovakian National Folklore Ballet Troupe Bringing smiles to devastated Ishinomaki

This is the national dance of the Slovak Republic, hailed as the origin of folk dance. Said to be top among the country’s many troupes, the angels of Lúčnica bring their music and dance.

On this day in stricken Ishinomaki City, Miyagi, many smiles bloomed at this charity performance.

Having had been long since any such charity performance was held, as many as 450 locals came to watch.

In fact, it was the efforts of a volunteer group calling on the Slovakian Embassy that got this project started.
